Powerful Pull #2

I stuck my hand in the air, trying to make an attempt to pull myself up when suddenly, someone grabbed me, pulled me up from the darkness of the water, and into the light of the sun. By now, I noticed that I happened to be outside of the swimming area and it had been a fisherman how had pulled me up. I started to cough and breath deeply as I was carried across the side of a boat.

“Thank you, greatly. I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t have come and saved me,” I said, once on deck.

“No problem at-all young lady. Can’t just stand around and watch a body die,” he said, winking at me. “Well now, what’s your name here miss?”

“oh, sorry about my manners. I’m Julie.”

“And I’m Steve. Pleased to meet ya.”

“Tell me, why did you save me?,” I asked, getting the feeling that there was more to it than just neighborly kindness.

“Well, the Lord says to help a friend in need and you sure did need help.”

“A friend in need, hu?”

“Yep, anything to help a body.”

“That makes sense. So you believe all that stuff about a spirit hovering over top of us or about a big man upstairs, watching us mess up all the time?”

“Well now. It doesn’t go quiet like that. You see, God does indeed watch us, but He’s with us right here. He wants to be a part of our lives, but we have to let Him in.”

“And how do ya do that?”

“Well, you have to let Him in, tell Him your sorry for the things you’ve done against Him, and give the rest of your days to His work.” I started to cry, feeling overwhelmed with a power around me I could not describe.

“Is He tellin’ ya somethin’ Julie? Is calling ya?”

“Yes. Yes, I feel something, I–I just don’t know what.”

“He’s callin’ ya. That’s what. Do ya want to tell Him your sorry and that you want to live for Him forever more?,” he asked. I didn’t exactly get what he was asking me, what Steve was trying to explain. I started to shake along with the ever-growing sobs. What should I say to this man? More importantly, what was I to say to this God Steve was telling me about?
