The Greatest Love

Just thinking that today was Valentine’s and why we actually have love. Valentine’s first came to be when a man, something Valentine (can’t remember his first name:), died for his Savior, giving his life to the one he loved. That is pretty amazing faith that we all should have.

Most of you know the verse John 3:16 and how God sent his one and only son to die for us so that we can live with Him forever in heaven if we accept him as our Savior and live a life that brings glory and honor to Him. 1 John 3:16 says: ‘This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.’ Jesus showed us what love really is. Think about it for a minute. Jesus, in His perfect ways, died a death that we should have because of our sins, yet he did not turn back at any point in His journey to the cross. He loved us so much to die at the hand of the Romans. That is true love. What is ridiculous, to me anyway, is that the people who were around Him, probably even heard Him teach, decided to let a criminal on the street instead of a man who loved them all so very dearly. How could anyone do that?

So, as you go about you day, think of Jesus’ love, not just your spouses or your girlfriend or boyfriend. Think of Jesus in all His righteous ways, hanging on that cross for sinners, for us, just so that we can live with Him forever.

If you would like to find more about love, turn to 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, in your Bible.
